TUM DIGITAL LEARNING LAB

SUCCESSES

The TUM DigiLLab is a digital teaching-learning-laboratory at the Technical University of Munich. The newly established infrastructure for the development, testing and research of innovative teaching and learning concepts in vocational and secondary school education pursues the essential goal of visualizing digital transformation in everyday life, work and teaching. To this end, the TUM DigiLLab offers five rooms (spaces) with different subject areas.

Challenge

Driving change forward

"How will we live in the future? How will we learn, how will we work?" These questions form the basis of TUM's concept for implementing the various spaces. And we are also facing up to them and the challenge of driving forward the changes triggered by digitalization in work, society and teaching with the latest innovations. Our contribution to the training of students and teachers as well as to the development, testing and research of new concepts for teaching and learning is crucial to promoting the transfer of knowledge.

Implementation

Industry 4.0-Space

Skills taught

Optimization of industrial plants using data-supported processes from a technical and commercial perspective as well as in interdisciplinary processes

Illuminating the potential impact of Industry 4.0 on human processes such as employee co-determination

Use of elements such as system integration, additive manufacturing, collaborative robotics, sensor technology and artificial intelligence

Simulation of fully digitized processes and personalized production in real time, for example through precise feeding of intermediate products and operating resources into the ongoing production process through feedback to production logistics

Hard- and Software

Central control unit with process control and merchandise management system

Radio-controlled E-Ink displays

Dashboard at every workstation

3D printers and 3D scanners

Autonomous, collaborative transport robot

Result

Unlimited networking

By linking the skills taught with the technologies implemented, we use the Industry 4.0-Space in particular to show how digital networking transcends physical boundaries and makes the increasing digitalization of production and digital transformation tangible.
